VISUAL ART SEMINARS FOR TEACHERS at TMAG
TERM 1 2008
This Twilight Seminar series, a repeat of the 2007 program, has been designed to give teachers confidence, skills and knowledge in the development of a visual arts program in schools.
Further information on the Arts Curriculum can be found at http://ltag.education.tas.gov.au/focus/primary/visualart.htm and The Tasmanian Curriculum—Arts Curriculum Area K–10 syllabus and support materials (www.education.tas.gov.au/curriculum and follow the links to the Arts Curriculum Area)
All sessions, run by Leigh Roberts, include ideas for lessons and program development; general and specific discussions; hands on activities; advice on art appreciation and appraisal and ‘take home’ notes that include follow-up, extension possibilities and practical advice.
Leigh Roberts, workshop tutor and art educator, has taught visual art in Tasmanian public, private and alternative schools for over 35 years. Her teaching experience includes the early childhood, primary, secondary, senior secondary and tertiary sectors. She has also been involved in professional development programs for teachers.
Since retiring from the Tasmanian Department of Education, Leigh has been working as a consultant for the DOE, working with practicing teachers in the development of the visual art scope and sequence charts for Standards 1–3 and is pursuing her interest in creating kiln formed glass artworks.
