Museum programs
Discover your museum
What is it? Is it real? How is it stuffed? How old is it? Can we touch it? This interactive program includes a tour of the site, uses a variety of objects and materials, and offers an introduction to collections, conservation and interpretation. This program is a good prerequisite for all other museum programs.
Duration: 1 hour.
Islands to Ice: Antarctic and Southern Ocean exhibition programs
From Whaling to Wilderness: The Changing Values Towards Resource Management in Antarctica
In this program, students make choices as 'new arrivals' to a pristine environment and role-play the consequences as scientist, tourist, resource developer, explorer and whaler. They also have the opportunity to explore the Islands to Ice exhibition.
Duration: 1.5 hours.
Climate Change: Messages from the Frozen Continent
The Antarctic ice cap contains a frozen record of global climate change over the past 100 000 years and still influences our climate today. In this program students find out why this region is integral to understanding climate change. They also have the opportunity to explore the Islands to Ice exhibition.
