Yin Xiuzhen: Washing River 2014

During Dark Mofo 2014, leading Chinese contemporary artist Yin Xiuzhen will build a wall of ice on the Hobart waterfront, using frozen water from the River Derwent.

People will be invited to take a Chinese mop and 'wash' the wall with river water, symbolically cleansing the dirty water as the ice slowly melts and returns to the river.

Footage of the artwork's installation, washing and melting will be screened at TMAG, presented by Detached and Dark Mofo.
