Merry Christmas from TMAG
On behalf of everyone at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our visitors a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
TMAG will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December, but will reopen on Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December.
As previously announced, the museum will also be open on Monday 28 December 2015 – the opening day of the Taste of Tasmania – so that families visiting the waterfront can check out our exciting new exhibition Pattern Play.
In addition to this fantastic interactive exhibition, we also have our wonderful colonial watercolour and drawings exhibition Panoramic Views, as well as our popular permanent galleries for visitors to enjoy.
There is certainly something for everyone at TMAG, and we look forward to welcoming all visitors through the historic Watergate this holiday period.

Image details: These golden stage-beetles (Lamprima aurata), known locally as Christmas beetles, were collected by Dr George Bornemissza at St Helens on Tasmania's East Coast. They, and many others from the TMAG Bornemissza's Forest Beauties of the Beetle World collection are on display as part of the Pattern Play exhibition.
