Tonight at the Museum

A Mischievous After Hours Adventure (filmed at TMAG) -  Tonight at the Museum Display. 

Welcome to the story behind Tonight at the Museum, the comedy quiz show filmed in front of a live audience inside the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) in late 2025.

After our visitors had gone home and the lights had dimmed, host Alex Lee and a changing lineup of celebrity guests brought TMAG’s Central Gallery to life in a whole new light.

As each night’s filming unfolded, contestants navigated galleries, artefacts, stranger-than-fiction history, and moments of sheer awe - to deliver a series combining facts and comedic fun. Each episode crowned one triumphant guest with the highest honour: having their chosen “treasure” exhibited at TMAG. These winning moments now take shape in eight display cases in the Central Gallery, each one revealed in step with the weekly broadcast.

Though the contestants have returned home, the delight, intrigue and humour of Tonight at the Museum remain. These displays offer our visitors a glimpse into the wonderfully unexpected objects and stories brought to the screen.
