Around the World in 80 Objects

While borders are closed and international holidays remain a distant memory due to COVID-19, Around the World in 80 Objects gives Tasmanians the chance to travel the globe this summer via TMAG’s collection.

This display brings together objects from Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania and the Americas, representing all of TMAG’s diverse collections: from Art to Zoology, and from Cultural Heritage to the Tasmanian Herbarium.

Inspired by the intrepid globetrotters of yesteryear, you’ll be able to explore a vast array of amazing objects – some of which have rarely been displayed at TMAG before!

You will also learn some fascinating stories about how these items travelled thousands of kilometres to make their home at TMAG.
