The Red Dress, 2022

The red dress

Child Mathinna forever afloat in water encased, immortalised.

Remembered as the little girl in the red dress.

Is this all I am? Is this all that I have become, a portrait?

Thomas Bock observed me, stilled me, prepared me for the portrait, I a-seat in this red dress.

Look into my eyes, see my sadness, silent tears.

In reality I drowned.

Sorrow sits heavy, almost suffocating, chokes in my throat.
